Family Heirloom

I wanted to create a violin with some character but also wanted to tell an extra story. This is meant to have a lot of smudges and a lot of wear, as it's a violin that's been passed down through a family for a few generations. There are three composer autographs on it, spread out over the course of a century. The first is Serge Prokofiev, then Igor Stravinsky, and then the modern violinist Lindsey Sterling.

This was a great learning process, and upon starting this project I didn't realize how little I knew about violin anatomy! It had been a while since I went through the whole pipeline of high res, game res, baking, and texturing, so this was a wonderful refresher in realistic prop modeling as well as Substance Painter. It was also a bit of a challenge because I don't normally tackle projects with such organic shapes.
